Well I have not posted my personal views regarding different aspects of life in my blog yet owing to the fact that I prefer privacy in certain opinions lest it would create mind boggling controversies due to my independent way of thinking and keep them in my personal diary for that reason. Nevertheless, today I am going to express one of them.
This is regarding the Hindu Mythology. Though I still doubt that it will not be raising many an eyebrows in that respect.
According to me the Ramayana and Mahabhartha are fictions and when I say that I truly and completely stand by what I have said. I believe that the authors of these two epics, Maharishi Valmiki and Ved Vyasa are two of the most learned and blessed authors of India. They have been genuinely brilliant in their creations but as I have mentioned, they are the AUTHORS. These two epics are the creations of these two authors.
I have many a strong reasons to prove that. The first and foremost being that God according to me is not so insignificant that he would need to step down on this earth to solve certain feuds crept among his own creation-Man. If he has the power to create the evil, he certainly has the power to destroy it as well without really having a need to step down on this earth.
Second reason, which I would quote, is in respect of the Mahabhartha. In this epic the Pandavas have played the hero and the Kauravas have played the evil. Just like the other stories, the great author has saved the heroes in certain strange manners at some points. Many a times Pandavas were nearly killed in the gory war of the Kurukshetra but in some way or the other they were saved, killing all of the sons of the Pandavas namely Abhimanyu, Ghatotkatchha, and strangely enough five other sons of them who were killed mistaken for Pandavas themselves while they were sleeping in the dark. And amazingly, none of the Pandavas was killed till the end and all of their sons were killed supposedly to gain the sympathy of the readers for the heroes.
Well here I would like to mention that this may be one of the cases, that Valmiki had corelated some truth factor in the epic. That is to say, this can be one of the possibilities that the characters he mentioned in his epic might be present at that time and he wrote stories with those characters in mind, but according to me they might not be God who has created this very world.
However I still doubt this whole lot of idea because the definition of God according to me is something else which I cannot mention over here.
Here I would like to add that I have not meant to hurt any religious sentiments of people in any regard and these are my personal views, not meant to offend any person and hence should not be taken otherwise.

I completely respect your opinion, but these stories are not just fiction. These are historical facts in somewhat distorted sense. And yes, God was introduced in the stories by the people for the people so that they may fear that someday someone will come to end the evil and they should stop doing evil works. Some aspects are fiction, however.
India has undergone many invasions since these stories have been authored. And always the winning party writes its own history. Its no doubt that the authenticity of these works has been lost.
There are references in the Ramayana about the exact positions of the stars in the sky when Ram was born and when he died. These are the positions that happen once in a millineum and cannot be faked without the use of mordern computers. There are also archaeological facts which prove the gross war of the Mahabharata to be true.
It cannot be denied that these works have undergone various modifications based on superstitions and all but the authenticity of there stories cannot be commented upon.
In my belief, Ram was a great human, a diplomat, a scholar, and a great martial artist. Yes a martial artist. There are verses in the vedas that tell that martial art was invented in India by Rishi Augasta and Lord Parshuram, and then it travelled to various parts of the world. Unfortunately India has lost its martial arts, but it survives in a small form in the hills of kerela as kalaripayattam.
In older times these martial arts were not taught to all people, so they were considered godly. You see kung fu people from china doing many gymnastic things, in older times it was compared with flying and using mystical forces. All that no one could understand was tried to be filled with magic and miracles.
This is true even today.
Anything that is not understood is filled with superstition.

nice views, i support them completely... but small suggestion for you to avoid such things in something accessible to everyone... despite the fact u don't want to hurt anyone's sentiments or offend anyone, there are people who won't be able to control their anger on this one... it's something being followed by billions of people worldwide and it's something almost irreversible now... if it's not doing something good to anyone it's not doing something negative also to this universe... it's just about respecting others sentiments to get a respect for yourself... something called mutual understanding you see :)
but all in all a good observation from you, again i would echo ur last line, nothing to hurt ur sentiments or offend you... :)

I don't know whether epics are fiction or not but above said fact is untrue..for example hmm leave example just have the meaning of that sloka "yada yada hi dharmasya"
it will solve ur problem..
